@Alix M @Matt F
i WAS SPEAKING WITH MATT ON THIS AND HE WOULD LIKE US TO REQUEST A PREAUTH FOR 1 HOUR TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. wE WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE MOTORS OUT AND THEN PUSH THE SLIDE TO SEE WHERE THE HANG UP IS CAUSING THE FUSE TO BLOW. AS IT IS BLOWING ONCE THE SLIDE IS ALMOST ALL THE WAY IN, OR ALMOST ALL THE WAY OUT.

From John at GD:
Thank you for sending this over.
We will normally cover some level of diag IF a manufacturing defect is found. Diag time is “Built into the Flat Rate Code this per our Flat Rate Manual:
Diagnostic Time
The times listed for each code include Access, Diagnosis, Removal and Re-Installation, Set-Up, and Testing unless otherwise noted. If you feel the time allowance is inadequate, for a proper review, please provide GDRV with a detailed written explanation and photos to support why additional time is requested.
• Diagnostic Time is covered and always taken into consideration at the time of
review on a case by case basis. Not all flat rate codes will require diagnosis time.
• Straight Time and electrical code submissions should have detailed information
and photos to support requested time.

@Alix M
I HAVE ATTACHED THE TECHNICIANS NOTES BELOW. THE TECHNICIAN NOW HAS 9.5 HOURS INTO THIS JOB.. HE CALLED LCI (CASE NUMBER: 6593775) THEY WENT THROUGH EVERYTHING AND LCI TOLD THE TECHNICIAN THAT THE FUSE THAT IS IN THE UNIT IS TOO SMALL AND SHOULD BE A 30AMP FUSE.
I took the fuse panel door off and the manufacturer cracked the fuse box in multiple spots when they installed it. We will need a new fuse box.
The wire for the slide is also tied into the refrigerator and from the box it goes into the floor. I inspected the wires and connections inside the unit and then i partially dropped the underbelly and inspected the wires and the both look good. I followed the wires up the ds and i found the controller tucked behind a drawer. The code the controller is flashing is telling me there is a battery fault. I replaced the fuse, ran the slide in and out and this time it didnt pop the fuse. I checked the controller and its not flashing anymore. I ran the slide in and out two more times and the 15 amp fuse didn't blow and no codes flashed on the controller. I ran the slide in a third time and the fuse popped.
Everything electrical is good so i thought maybe the slide is binding. There are some metal shavings in between the teeth so i cleaned them out and lubed them. I took the inner columns down so i could inspect the motors and the rear side is so close to the wall i can't get my drill past the facia. Once i got the motors exposed i took them out and inspected them. The slide moves pretty easy manually so its not binding up anywhere.
Im not finding any issues so i called LCI to try to get some more information on the slim racks and tech support had me check voltage at the controller without the unit plugged in and the voltage dropped to 11.3 volts. I mentioned the 15 amp fuse that i said was an issue before and tech support instantly started questioning why the manufacturer used such a small fuse and said it should be bigger. If the manufacturer could give me a direction so i dont waste anymore of my time that would be great.

dealer_or_external • Mar 6, 2026, 3:30 PM
@Alix M The wiring that grand design ran is large enough to support a 20a fuse. If lippert requires a 30a fuse to the slide controller, we will need to run a larger gauge conductor to the controller.

@Matt F From John Hamilton at GD:
Thank you for your request. After reviewing the details, we’re unable to approve coverage under the factory warranty.

@Michelle A @Matt F From John at GD:
Good Afternoon,
Response from vendor:
Thank you for the response. We advised the technician that there is a voltage concern, as the voltage was dropping significantly during operation. This voltage issue will need to be addressed, or the fuses will likely continue to blow.Thank you,Teesha G.Lippert Customer Care Representative432-Lippert
What they are saying is they did not tell the tech to change the size of the fuse or the size of the wire.
We must stand by our decision, to deny the request to modify the electrical system.

Moving to approved for Warranty Repair 1.
Matt Ferkey
dealer_or_external • Mar 23, 2026, 6:14 PM
The voltage drop concern is due to the conductor being undersized. To address the voltage drop will require a replacement of the wire to 10awg as recommended by LCI. 10awg will also support a 30a fuse also recommended by LCI.

@Matt F With LCI saying they never told the dealership to change the size of the fuse or wiring, I am not sure if you would want me to reach out to LCI directly? John didn't acknowledge your response, only gave me the contact at LCI that he was dealing with, which I asked him for because we are getting two different stories from Grand Design and from LCI.
