@Alix M @Kaitlyn R The thermostat on this unit is not compatible with the replacement board GE sent us. I have uploaded all of the pictures to show the original thermostat, the control knobs are on the bottom of the thermostat and not on the side. We will need them to either send us a compatible thermostat or a conversion kit to get this AC working.

Above on the 19th there are notes from Anna "Per Matt the Gen 2 was the correct board, the thermostat and harness we received will NOT work with the the gen 2 board. We need a thermostat to work with the gen 2 board OR a board that will work with the thermostat and harness we were sent." GE came back asking to have someone call them. Is this work actually done?

@Alix M The board that GE sent was correct, but the "new style" thermostat will not communicate with it. If we are to use the board they sent, we will need a "old style' thermostat. If they want to send a different board that will work with the new style thermostat, that would also be acceptable. The reason the "work is done" is because we took an old style thermostat out of another stock unit to accommodate a deadline. I now need to make the stock unit whole.

@Matt F @Kaitlyn R From GE: Please be advised that on 5/21/2026 there was an email that was sent asking to have the tech reach out to our tech assistance line. We sent out a Gen 2 control board, a Gen 2 t-stat, along with a wire harness adaptor that will allow the Gen 2 items to communicate with the Gen 1 AC unit. Did the tech reach out to our tech assistance line? I am stuck on this one because I told them you replaced the thermostat with the old style but if you didn't do what they asked, I am not sure how to move forward. @Chris B

@Alix M When we order (or request) the old one, we receive a new style thermostat and a new control board that is compatible with the new thermostat. The problem is the new control board is not compatible with the old Air Conditioner.

@Alix M To break it down, the thermostat communicates with the control board that is installed in the area directly below the air conditioner. The air conditioner plugs into the control board, and the control board is what controls the air conditioner. A/C > Control Board > Thermostat
