This was denied FR stating this is damage, this is not the seal defect due to failed weld.

TESTING AND LEARNING — GRE 8220 / Write Off / WO 10500, 2022 Grand Design Reflection 278BH awning. WHY DENIED: On May 28, 2024 the native Dropbox comments report Grand Design rejected the warranty claim as DAMAGE rather than the failed welded fabric seam covered by recall 22E-055. The 3-page RO and all 6 photos show fabric separation, awning roller/tube handling and exposed wiring, but do not prove the failure mechanism or identify the affected recalled component. IMPORTANT RECALL SCREEN: Official Lippert equipment recall 22E-055 applies to certain awnings 18 feet and shorter built January 17–June 14, 2022; this RO lists a 20-foot replacement awning and July 2021 RV delivery. The billed part has quantity ZERO and the original label photo is unreadable, so actual installed awning eligibility must be checked by serial, length and build date, NOT assumed from the 2022 RV model year. WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE: establish recall/warranty eligibility before coding the claim; measure and photograph the exact welded seam and component identification; separately document any NEW replacement tube arriving damaged from Grand Design/UPS with shipping condition, carrier claim and approval for additional tube-swap work. Reconcile wiring work and actual labor approvals rather than rolling multiple issues together. WARRANTY-CODED RO: $230.00 labor (0.6h + 1.4h), $11.70 shop supplies, $303.81 freight, $0 parts = $545.51. This is not proven submitted, unpaid, written off or collectible; request OEM portal denial, freight invoice and remittance. Exclude $767.49 customer-paid MaxxFan/propane and $7.00 internal roof reseal. Wisconsin §218.164 effective October 1, 2024 is not automatically retroactive to May 2024. LEARNING: verify recalls by exact component, split manufacturing defects from transit/handling damage, and preserve source-specific labor and payment proof. Internal testing/learning only; not a final reimbursement or legal determination. @Chris B @Heidi H @Tricia H

TESTING AND LEARNING — Testing/Learning correction for RO 10500: My earlier comment called the $767.49 MaxxFan/propane work 'customer-paid.' The RO only proves it was CUSTOMER-BILLED; payment is not established. Also, the owner has confirmed the warranty claim was unpaid and written off, superseding my earlier uncertainty about that status. The awning warranty-coded total remains $545.51: $230 labor, $11.70 supplies and $303.81 freight, with zero charged parts. It is separate from the $767.49 customer bill and $7 internal work. Why unpaid: the May 28, 2024 sidebar says GD classified the awning failure as damage rather than a failed-weld seal defect. Better handling would have documented the original failure mechanism and legible component identification before selecting a warranty/recall route, then tracked the separately reported damaged replacement shipment and any extra tube-swap/wiring labor with their own responsibility and authorization. The six photos show separation and handling details but do not settle exact component eligibility or causation. Lesson: distinguish billed amounts from paid amounts, and distinguish the original defect from damage to a supplied replacement. This correction confirms the owner-reported unpaid/write-off status; it does not establish a presently collectible amount or exact accounting write-off allocation. @Chris B @Heidi H @Tricia H
