@Alix M This is a known issue that our techs actually just talked to FR about when they went down for a tour of the plant earlier this month. the wood under the railings is not sealed, so water is allowed past it, it saturates the carpet and the slide out floor.

@Kaitlyn R @Matt F Gretchin at FR has now denied this stating; there are no known issues and no visible sign of any water intrusion, wood is bone dry per representative who was present on tour: . I never mentioned anything referring to us warrantying a problem with a slide out. One guy did mention that the metal was cut short and a problem can happen, so I said as I always do, “you’ll have to get with our warranty department for any issues”. I sent her an email as she didn't even give you time to respond with the name that she requested. She has been the individual at FR giving us the hardest time lately. I will let you know what she says. @Chris B

@Alix Mongiat it may not be known to Gretchen, but it is known to us. We have multiple LFT units in the field that have customer complaints of carpet around the slide getting wet after a rain. We also have the same issue on several stock units. Only happens when side is out and a heavy rain. It doesn't leave a puddle, it just makes the carpet damp. It is a design flaw that is easily remedied. Happy to hop on a call to discuss further, I have discussed this with the plant manager once, and my team discussed it with him again during their visit.

TESTING AND LEARNING — Testing/Learning claim 13232, GRE 8220 / Write Off, Forest River claim/PA 2589383. The RO records EternaBond installation behind the slide fascias on this 2026 Puma 403LFT: $7.44 tape plus $70 labor, $77.44 billed. All 25 photos were reviewed. They show exposed wood, short metal/wrap edges, fascia removal and added tape; they do not independently establish rain-related moisture on this VIN. WHY PAYMENT FAILED: Forest River maintained the denial on February 25 because it regarded the work as preventive, with dry wood/no visible infiltration and no prior warranty authorization. The discussion also records Matt's contrary experience: damp carpet on multiple LFT units after heavy rain with the slides extended. That report supports investigating a pattern, but is not the same as documenting the failure on this particular unit. Alix had already included the folder photos and escalated Matt's response; the two emails record Forest River's final refusal. The plant-tour discussion was not established as approval to perform and bill this repair. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT: before repair, document this VIN's actual customer complaint and conditions, reproduce any leak using an approved diagnostic procedure, capture dated moisture findings and the entry path, and obtain written authorization for the specific repair. If the unit is dry and the work is preventive, resolve who will pay before proceeding. If a pattern appeal is justified, link each affected VIN and its evidence, rather than relying only on a general design concern. This does not mean the dealer's reported field experience was disproved; it means the claim packet did not bridge that report to a covered failure and authorized repair here. $77.44 is the RO charge; exact claim denial dollars, credits and ledger write-off remain unverified.
