@Michelle A @Matt F From FR: This modification is not acceptable, and the unit must be returned to factory specifications. I have added the print pack for the 13LE to this email for your review. Crimp fittings used at a T connection on an intake line are prone to expanding due to pressure. While this works for the pex line itself, crimp connections do not contract leaving this connection prone to future leaks. Please reinstall the braided hose to this area using the flat rate code only. In the future, please reach out about modifications acceptance prior to doing the work. If you have any questions, I can be reached by email or my desk number in the signature below.

@Michelle A @Alix M I have attached three additional pictures of the completed repair. We did not use any crimp fittings at the T connection. We connected utilizing a threaded fitting. All fittings we used are designed for use with PEX and were crimped with the appropriate single ear clamps. I would like to request an additional .1 to remove the bunk mattress and board and to submit photos of the completed repair.

@Matt F @Michelle A Good morning,   As shown in the print, ¼" × 24" risers are specified for this location. These risers use twist fittings, allowing for quick removal and replacement while significantly reducing the potential for leaks. Flat-rate codes exist to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and in accordance with factory specifications. Unauthorized modifications to our units are not acceptable, regardless of personal preference or perceived improvement.   In this case, I would, again, advise returning the unit to factory specifications, utilizing the parts specified for the unit. Also, the flat rate code will be used in this case, as the extended amount of time used during the repair was due to an unauthorized modification from factory standards.

@Alix M @Michelle A The piece of pex that we used also uses twist fittings on both ends. There is quite literally no difference other than the material the hose is made from. We utilized pex as it is available in out shop and prevents having the unit down while ordering a replacement water hose. Judging by the response so far - I am making the assumption that purchasing a replacement hose locally is not a viable option either because it may not be the same color - therefore not meeting factory specifications. This is entirely a waste of administrative time. We have certified technicians diagnosing and repairing the concerns and we are also taking on the liability of the repair. If it fails, warranty would deny coverage as we were the last to touch it. Right now, the repair meets or exceeds factory specifications. I am also requesting an additional .1hr for administration on this claim. (total of .2 additional above original submission). If you have further concerns, have your supervisor reach out directly to me. Matt Ferkey - Owner, Service Manager, and RVTI Certified Technician. 715-325-5170

@Matt F @Michelle A From FR: While I certainly understand the message below from Greenway, Forest River’s warranty procedure requires review of any claim that exceeds the flat rate.  In this case, the flat rate time was exceeded by more than 3X, due to the choice to install an unnecessary Pex line. Below, the CCC shows that it was of the opinion that the water line was too small, leading to its replacement with Pex. There was never a leak shown at the riser that would necessitate its replacement. The issue shown was the screen at the city fill and check valve. Forest River, again, will not pay for unauthorized modifications to our units, regardless of personal preference or perceived improvement.

@Alix M @Michelle A I have to eat crow on this one. I mistook this repair with another stock unit that had a leaking line. My apologies. FR is correct, there is no reason the intake line should have been replaced, the concern was addressed simply with a screened washer.

@Matt F Did you want me to change the PA to reflect the job that was done and the labor time so you can get something for this? If so, please update the WO and I can get it corrected for you.

@Michelle A They approved 0.3 hour. If that is all you need, we may not need to update as this is what they stated: Hello, the labor time submitted to Forest River has been reviewed and reduced based on the photos and description provided as well as the most applicable flat rate code. We are authorizing for the replacement of the screen only, the pex was installed per design. Our tech Phil is sending an email with some additional information on the pex line. Thank you. I would just make sure the Final RO states that only the screen was replaced if that is all you did.
