@Chris B Grand Design is once again asking me to separate panels and decking on to different lines. "If panels or anything interior needs to be replaced please add that to a separate line."
Chris Balderrama
processor • Sep 5, 2025, 11:34 AM
Write this: Per my supervisor, the panels and decking are part of this repair, they are not a separate repair, so they will stay on the same line.

@Chris B Per Matt, I am also to notify you that they are not authorizing the complete labor that is requested per our flat rates for the roof and decking repairs.

@Kaitlyn R @Chris B @Matt F From GD: Per my management decking has it's own flat rate and needs to be added to a separate line. I can only approve flat rate for the roof which is 26 hours.
Chris Balderrama
processor • Sep 8, 2025, 10:44 AM
Response: From my Supervisor: Decking may have its own flat rate, but it not a separate repair, so is does not belong on a separate line. Each line represents a different repair. This does not apply. The decking will remain on the same line.

@Chris B Just FYI, there is a rash of these units. GD switched roof systems to Alpha and they are required to use primer on any of the plastic items the sealant touches. They didn't, that is why the sealant is peeling off and doesn't have adhesion. It is a workmanship defect.

@Kaitlyn R @Chris B @Matt F From GD: last attempt *Please hold all parts for a minimum of 30 days after the claim is paid* I'm not trying to be difficult but this will not get approved by my manger with the decking included in the roof replacement line.

Per Section 7.12 – Warranty Charge Backs of Grand Design’s Service and Parts Policy & Procedure Manual, overlapping or stacked labor operations are not permitted and may result in charge backs. Splitting a single repair into two lines would fall under that category. The Dealer Portal’s multi-line function is designed for separate operations, not to divide one repair. To remain compliant with Grand Design’s policies, we will keep this repair on a single line with proper documentation. Thank you for your understanding,

@Alix M I SPOKE TO MATT ABOUT THIS ONE. IF THEY NEED ME TO BREAK DOWN THE LINES THE WAY THAT THEY WANT IT TO BE I CAN. BUT, MATT WANTS THE LABOR FOR THE COMPLETE INSTALL THAT WAS REQUESTED APPROVED. THE CONVERSATION DID NOT LEAD TO ANYTHING.

@Kaitlyn R They already broke it down. Amounts approved are stated above, but here they are again. They approved based on GD's flat rate. 26 hours for roof 0.3 hour for solar port/attic vent replacement 1 hour for decking If you approve this, we can move I can move this to approved.

@Alix M @Kaitlyn R Here is the response from Dan Kussow, He makes it seem they have approved more than you have stated... I have reviewed the pre-auth for this unit, per the VIN, the roof measurement is 26 ft long. Grand Design RV, in their flat rate manual, uses a rate of 1 hour per linear foot to calculate warranty labor costs for R & R of the roof membrane, which includes the removal and reinstallation of all extrusions, resealing of the unit, and installation of luan underlayment. This would calculate to 26 hrs. for this operation. We have approved you for 31 hrs. of the requested 37 hrs. R & R of roof decking in the same flat rate manual is 1 hr. per sheet. We have approved you for 2 sheets for 4 hrs., which is what you requested. We've been working with you to adjust our hours above our own flat rate manual. This pre-auth is approved for the adjusted hours. If you feel your dealership cannot do the work due to timeline or shop restrictions, please don't hesitate to let us know, and we will work with the customer to resolve their concern.

processor • Oct 23, 2025, 12:45 PM
@Matt F @Kaitlyn R This is only approved in GD's system for 26 hours, so I am not sure where he is seeing it approved for 31 hours. You requested a total of 49 hours for this roof replacement, not 37. Are you thinking this is a different WO? There is another one we were working on too.

Alix Mongiat
processor • Oct 23, 2025, 1:58 PM
@Chris B I will keep an eye on it, but I do not see it changed in the system yet. The numbers they referenced doesn't line up with this PA, so that is why I questioned it. They are more aligned with another roof replacement WO as we requested 49 hours on this one and the other WO was around 31 hours. Just wanted to be sure it was this WO.
