@Alix M The work order was created on 2/11/25 because that was when the customer called to schedule the drop off. The unit was supposed to be dropped off a day or two following the phone call. However, the dealership that was doing the insurance work/storing the customers unit was not able to drop the unit off until 2/27/25. Upon the drop of the unit, we worked the unit into our technician schedule to be looked at.

@Morgan Z @Kaitlyn R From GD:Are the slides in specs? This is the paneling I can give approval to repair the paneling and the fascia but will need to know the reason for the request for the 32.0 hours the slide should not need to be hyperextended for this repair ? Stated that the retail had insurance work what was completed and what happened that insurance claim needed to be filed ?
They also emailed- so we need a response ASAP on this.

This is going to be a sidewall repair. The slides were not in spec as they had traveled too far out causing the fascias to pull away from the sidewalls and break the weld. The slides will need to be hyperextend the slides in order to repair the issue with the sidewalls due to having to remove all the screws in the sidewalls that attach them to the floor. We can't really replace sidewalls without having to hyper extend it. This should fall into the 3 year structural warranty provided by Grand Design

Is there any way to go back and try to get this approved for the 32 hours? It is 16 Hours per slide to replace the sidewalls. We have to hyper extend the slides in order to get this repair done properly. 20 hours is just not enough time to repair the sidewalls on both the slideouts

@Alix M I am coming in here to note that this will need a slide adjustment and we will most likely be coming back for more hours as we do the side wall repairs because we are seeing more issues with the slides. We will also need to take this into a sublet to have the frame welded where the bell for the slide sits and adjust the bell with the slide adjustment. If there is anyway we can relay this to Grand Design to try and get more approval, that will be great. Just saves both of us time arguing this after the fact. If they say they want more proof, I am sure we can get pictures during the repair of the side walls for that. Also, will you need me to create another line for the slide adjustment along with an invoice from a sublet for the welding on the frame where the slide bell sits?

It should be noted that if the slide adjustment isn't made then the sidewall repair would fail due to the timing being off on the slides as well as the bells being crushed into the frame

The slides for this unit were not within spec. The slides were traveling too far back when being put out. This caused the fascias to pull away from the side walls which led the weld to break on the side walls. And then when the slides are being brought in , the slide bells are getting crushed against the frame. We will need to do an adjustment on the slide outs , have a sublet weld the hole for the slide bells, and replace the side walls to fix the break in the welds. We are requesting 32 hours for both slides to have the rear side walls replaced( 16 hours each wall). The hours seem high but that is because we will not know the extent of the damage in this repair along with the R&I of both slides. One being the kitchen slide. We are then asking for 3 hours for the slide adjustments (1.5 hours per slide) and then we have submitted an estimate from the sublet to do the welds for the slide bells
