@Alix M most of these have request on labor, but some of them we need direction from manufacturer. mostly the generator and the frame. We aren't sure if we should try to get estimate for sublet or if they will want to take unit back to factory. we would not be able to get the sublet on the generator until we could find someone to look at it.

@Alix M THAT WOULD BE A SUBLET. PLEASE REQUEST A SUBLET FOR $500. I CAN ATTEMPT TO REACH OUT TO THE WELDING COMPANY THAT WE USE TO SEE IF THEY CAN SEND US AN ESTIMATE. TYPICALLY THEY DONT UNTIL THEY DO THE WORK AND GIVE US A FINAL BILL.

@Kaitlyn R Warranty Repair 6 - Please attach the estimate. Warranty Repair 7 - DEALER IS REQUIRED TO GO DIRECTLY THROUGH THE VENDOR. Dealers need to have the generator repaired at a Cummins shop and the Cummins shop needs to take care of the warranty there (that’s the way it should be done). The generator repair should not come back to grand design or Cummins in Elkhart. @Stephanie K @Ashlee O Have either of you ever dealt with Cummins?

@Kaitlyn R Warranty Repair 2 - Vendor: Thank you for sending this in. I authorize 4 brake assemblies, 4 complete hubs and 2 hours labor. You can do a VCB and authorization is in case 6379642. Warranty Repair 8 - Please send this link to your dealer and tell them to follow the troubleshooting guides: • Testing Sending Unit Resistance • How to Reprogram a DUAL tank Control Panel https://vectorperformance.com/videos/ It sounds like the panel may need to be reprogrammed to a dual system, it may have inadvertently been reprogrammed to a single. As far as the testing of the sending unit, here are the reading levels they should be seeing; • FULL TANK = 33 ohms • EMPTY TANK = 240 ohms If they follow these guides and are still having issues go ahead and put in the claim for the control panel. There will be no need to replace the sending units.

@Alix M THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE BRAKES BUT IT DID NOT RECTIFY THE CONCERN. I HAVE COPY AND PASTED THE TECHS NOTES BELOW. WE NEED GUIDANCE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. We got the new brake assemblies and hub so i disconnected the old brake assemblies, installed the new ones and the plugs dont fit together so i had to hardwire all the wiring together. Once those were on I cleaned and repacked the bearings. I put the tires on and while one was still jacked up so i tried the brakes and they dont work. I tried the break away switch and still no breaks. I verified that the brakes are getting proper voltage and they are. I removed the fresh tank drain valve handle extension and the screw tracks holding the underbelly on and i checked the ABS power box to verify everything is plugged in and it is. I dont know if its an issue in the ABS box or what so we will have to see how the manufacturer wants to proceed.

@Alix M Update on the brakes: The manufacturer reccomended that i call LCI so i did and the tech told me to check the pins, pin connection, and verify incoming and outgoing voltage on the ABS module. Due to the modules location i cant see the pins so i removed the module, checked the pins and pin connection and they're good. I verified the module has proper incoming voltage and it has 13 volts. I put the module back in place checked the outgoing voltage and there isn't any, i did an amp draw and there is nothing. The ABS module is bad and needs replacement.

@Kaitlyn R @Alix M Last time I did anything with an ABS module, it required partially dropping the underbelly to gain access. The ABS module location was very close to the spring hangers and had gas lines that needed to be dropped to get to the underbelly. I would say it will be a 5-6 hour repair to be conservative.

Michelle Antinoja
dealer_or_external • Mar 13, 2026, 12:49 PM
@Alix M sO THIS IS NOT A ISSUE WITH THE GENERATOR ITSELF. IT IS A ISSUE WITH THE WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. wE DO NOT DO ANY WORK WITH GENERATORS SO WE DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO MOVE THE GENERATOR FROM ITS LOCATION IN ORDER TO GET BEHIND THE UNIT AND SEE THE HARNESS.

@Alix M I would like 2 hours total for the transport to and from the welding shop. During the visit to the welding shop, it was discovered that the frame was actually bent, not only a broken weld. At that point, I got with Dan Kussow who got SRT to come to our location to complete the repair. When SRT was here, they determined the bent frame was due to an impact, not a flaw. The actual frame repair has now turned retail, however, grand design had already authed us for the transport to and from the welding facility (if I am not mistaken)

We asked for additional testing procedures (repeatedly) with no response. 3/31/26 we were finally given a link to a youtube video, but it got us nowhere. 4/1/26 we contacted grand design tech support via phone. They walked through the diagnosis and determined the controller was bad. We ordered a controller. 5/13/26 we installed the new controller and verified functionality.

@Alix M We have over 8 hours tied up in this, between spinning our wheels looking for guidance and diagnostic procedures and calling the manufacturer of the controller (who claimed it was installed by grand design in an unsupported way) and calling Grand Design. It all boils down to the controller simply being bad. The replacement only took .2 or so, it was all of the legwork to get to that point that was the drain. I have dozens of emails simply trying to get responses and direction, I also had numerous phone conversations - I dont know what to ask for. On one hand the repair was simple and quick, on the other hand there has been no training available or offered for this system, Grand Design would not even respond to our requests for assistance, the manufacturer of the controller said it was not compatible with the Lippert system it was connected to and we ended up getting pointed back to grand design who finally were the ones who told us to just replace it. All of the back and forth and blame game legitimately burned through 8.2 hours of skilled time with a technician. It just pisses me off... Rant over, what do you suggest we do?

@Chris B Please review this and let me know what you think. There is a lot going on and Grand Design hasn't been cooperative lately, as you are aware.

We are requesting consideration for additional diagnostic labor associated with this repair. Although the final controller replacement itself required minimal installation time, the diagnostic process leading to root-cause identification required extensive technician involvement due to lack of available documentation, lack of training/support resources for this system configuration, delayed response from Grand Design, and conflicting information provided during the troubleshooting process. During diagnostics, we contacted the controller manufacturer directly for technical assistance and were advised that the controller appeared to be installed in an unsupported application/configuration with the Lippert system it was connected to. This required additional investigation, testing, and multiple rounds of communication to determine whether the issue was component failure, system incompatibility, or installation-related. We also made multiple attempts to obtain direction and technical guidance from Grand Design throughout the process. Ultimately, after extensive troubleshooting and escalation efforts, we were advised by Grand Design to replace the controller, which resolved the issue immediately. The physical replacement of the component was not the primary labor driver in this repair. The significant time expenditure resulted from the diagnostic burden created by unsupported or undocumented system integration concerns, lack of technical guidance, and the extended process required to obtain an accurate repair direction. In total, this repair consumed approximately 8.2 hours of skilled technician diagnostic and support-related labor before final resolution. We are requesting review and consideration for additional diagnostic labor reimbursement associated with this repair event.

@Matt F @Chris B From Ashley at Grand Design: Grand Design warranty coverage for testing and diagnosing water issues is evaluated strictly on a case-by-case basis. Dealers are generally responsible for performing proper testing and diagnostics when submitting a warranty pre-authorization request. Unfortunately, I cannot approve any time for this issue. This is something that my manager has already reviewed previously, this will remain denied.

@Alix M @Chris B This has nothing to do with a water issue. Also, when speaking with grand design tech support, they are the ones who recommended the replacement of the fuel controller. Why would their recommendation for a warranty repair not be covered?

@Matt F @Chris B From Ashley: This goes for any diagnosis issues, GDRV is not responsible for diag. You can get with my manager Michael about this issue; he will have to be the one to approve this. *Let me know if you want me to reach out to Michael or if you plan to. This may be as simple as me creating a New PA for that line item, but Ashley is providing no information and just flat out denying everything, and completely ignoring the WI law.
